Portfolium’s Troy Markowitz to Speak at the Instructure Conference

Portfolium, a leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) education technology company that connects student learning with career opportunity, today announced that Troy Markowitz, Vice President of Academic Partnerships, will be a speaker at the Instructure Conference in Keystone, Colorado.

Markowitz will discuss why integrating career and curriculum is needed for Student Success, helping students find relevance from their educational experience, and how institutions can measure student learning outcomes for accreditation- all while connected to the Canvas (Instructure- NYSE: INST) Learning Management System (LMS). He will be presenting with Dirk Matthews, Associate Director Portfolio & Career Integration at Columbia College of Chicago.

“The Instructure Conference is an amazing and fun opportunity for educators to become empowered and explore news ways to help fuel student success initiatives,” said Markowitz. “We are in a unique time where academic affairs is bridging the silos with other departments like career services in order to put students first. Our presentation will show a leading example of how that can be done.”

Markowitz is a contributor to Forbes and writes about the skills gap from college to career and believes that there is a gap in a student's understanding of what is learned through curriculum and how it translates to workforce skills— he calls it the "skill awareness gap."

Portfolium provides a way for students to become more aware of the skills they're attaining throughout their academic journey and then matches them against employer's job requirements. At the same time, Portfolium provides a better way for schools to perform authentic assessment that is student-centered. Educators can track and report on course, program, and institution wide learning outcomes for assessment and accreditation.

The discussion, “Linking Curriculum to Career Readiness to Support Student Success” will take place on Wednesday, July 25th at 2:30 p.m. (CST) at the Keystone Resort in Colorado. For an overview of the session, visit the official site.
