Rhode Island College Selects Portfolium’s ePortfolios to Connect Competency with Careers

Rhode Island College (RIC) has selected Portfolium’s student success platform to enable 8,500+ students to capture, curate and convert learning artifacts into evidence-based career readiness skills, empowering students to better articulate and demonstrate their competencies to future employers.

With Portfolium, RIC students will gain the ability to collect and showcase curricular and co-curricular work through ePortfolios (a recently recognized high-impact practice by the Association of American Colleges & Universities) and reflect on their achievements and acquired competency skills. As a result, students’ academic experience and experiential learning will be presented in a way that speaks to employers while also allowing students to understand their value in the professional marketplace.

“We chose Portfolium because they have proven to be the only platform that is focused on communicating with employers the market value that is gained from educational experience,” said RIC’s Career Development Center Director Demetria Moran.

Portfolium’s ePortfolios are free for life for students to carry evidence of their achievements and skills throughout the entire student lifecycle and beyond as alumni. As part of the student success platform, employers (including RIC’s own industry partners) will be able to match students’ evidence of skills directly to their desired job criteria, aligning K-12 and postsecondary pathways directly with workforce needs.

“Enabling students to see direct value in their learning as tangible pathways to success and not just an abstraction is one of our highest priorities at Portfolium,” said Troy Markowitz, VP of Partnerships at Portfolium. “With RIC, we are committed to making that a reality for students campus-wide.”

Portfolium is the world’s fastest growing student success platform. 2,500+ colleges, universities and high schools use Portfolium to manage and align competency assessment, student success, and career readiness programs.
