PROGRAMMER TEACHES HOMELESS MAN TO CODE

Patrick McConlogue, a young computer programmer in NYC, had a plan: Finding the unjustly homeless, and teaching them to code.  He approached Leo Grand, a homeless man on the streets of NY, and offered him a choice: $100 cash or a cheap laptop, 3 books on javascript and daily lessons on how to code. Grand immediately went for the second option.  Patrick stuck to his word and updated his blog with the details of his plan, which attracted a lot of heavy criticism.  He was called "clueless" and "morally suspect".  His plan was said to be "degrading" and "horrible".  Patrick was compared to the villains in the popular film "Trading Places" with Eddie Murphy.
