Troy Markowitz, Vice President of Academic Partnerships at Portfolium believes that there is a gap in a student's understanding of what is learned through curriculum and how it translates to workforce skills— he calls it the "skill awareness gap." Portfolium provides a way for students to become more aware of the skills they're attaining throughout their academic journey and then matches them against employer's job requirements through sourcing technology. At the same time, Portfolium provides a way for schools to measure and track student learning outcomes for assessment and accreditation management. Portfolium helps schools fuse together the "silos of excellence" campuswide with academic and student affairs, career services, student success, and the provost office, to better scale career readiness for millions of students by helping them bridge the gap from college to career. Troy has over a decade of experience in senior leadership positions at technology and consulting firms such as McKinsey, BDO, and EMC. He currently is a contributor to Forbes, EdSurge, among others and writes primarily about the gap between education and the workforce. Troy graduated with honors from UCLA and his favorite class was Game Theory.
