#TheStudentVoice: Amanda Corp of Salve Regina University

During #TheStudentVoice webinar, we had the great privilege of connecting with Salve Regina University student, Amanda Corp, who shared with us her story of how using Portfolium has helped bridge her majors and establish a digital footprint for employers to see.

As a double major in Administration of Justice and Psychology, Corp explained to us how using Portfolium helped her reflect on her projects and skills and see the hidden connections between both studies.

"As a dual major, it's really hard to find common ground between the two, especially when they're so different, so I wanted to find a way to bridge the gap," Corp told us. "That's why my friend and I found it important to do a research study that used everything we learned thus far from our Psychology classes and everything from our Administration of Justice classes all in one."

Portfolium's ability to publicly display Corp's transferrable skills, she added, played an integral role in incentivizing her student learning reflection.

"We created the research ourselves, we did everything ourselves, [and put it on Portfolium] mainly because we wanted to be more marketable to future employers and for grad programs. As a rising senior, I plan on attending graduate school and to have all my projects on my Portfolium. I think it will help me in terms of getting into grad programs because right away they're going to see my previous research and know I have the background for it."

Like other students other students interviewed in #TheStudentVoice webinar, Corp noted that she has ultimately found great value in the platform being able to add a third-dimension perspective into all her work and experiences via her ePortfolio.

"The thing I've noticed that I really love about Portfolium is that it's not just about employers or professors seeing your experience, it's them actually seeing the hard work and everything you've done to get there," Corp explained.

"It's more than just putting something on a resume –– now, it's here's what I've done and here's the proof of all of my work for you to see. We spend so much time and effort putting together our papers or presentations or volunteer work, and now none of that will go unnoticed."
